In this season of giving and as the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Freedom of Information Act comes to a close, the members of the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information (CCFOI) seek your financial support to help us to promote government transparency, public access and a strong Freedom of Information law.
In the face of unprecedented political strife, misinformation and conspiracy theories, there have been few times in this nation’s history when it been so important to shine a light on the activities of government. And CCFOI has, true to its mission, stayed focused on state and local government.
But it has not been easy. Every year open-government advocates face new and persistent efforts by state legislators and other policymakers to limit the public’s right to know. We lobby, we testify, we raise public awareness – and thanks to your financial help – we never stop.
Because CCFOI primarily works at the state Capitol, it is organized as an advocacy group rather than as a charitable foundation. Therefore, your contributions are not tax-deductible. But we want you to know that CCFOI is laser-focused. Every dollar that we raise goes to fighting for open meetings and public records.
Please consider including CCFOI in your holiday gift-giving this year. Contributions may be made via PayPal or you can mail a check payable to CCFOI to our treasurer: Jacqueline Smith, 12 Bethpage Dr., Bethel, CT 06801.
Thank you for your support of open government and the public’s right to know.
Sincerely,
Michele Jacklin
CCFOI president
