The meeting was at Wood-n-Tap, 99 Sisson Ave., Hartford.
Present: Mike Savino, Mitch Pearlman, Zach Janowski, Jeff Daniels, Liz Gemski, Paula Pearlman, Mary Connolly, Michele Jacklin.
The minutes of the Feb. 20, 2019 meeting were accepted.
Legislative report: There was discussion of legislation promoted by Chief State’s Attorney Keven Kane, in response to last year’s state Supreme Court ruling that allowed the public release of documents related to the 2012 Newtown school shooting. Kane wants law enforcement agencies to have the authority to retain items seized in a criminal investigation, such as the personal materials seized from the Newtown shooter’s home. CCFOI and the FOIC are opposed to the legislation.
Annual meeting: There was agreement that the CCFOI annual meeting will be June 19 at Pond House Café, 1555 Asylum Ave, West Hartford, if the date is available. Anyone with nominations for our annual awards should email Savino.
Looking ahead: The next CCFOI meeting will be April 17 at noon at Wood-n-Tap.
