Present: President Mike Savino, Vice President Zach Janowski, Treasurer George Lombardi, Legislative Co-chair Michele Jacklin, Mitch Pearlman, Paula Pearlman, Chris Powell, Dana Whalen, Jacky Smith, Tom Scheffey, Elizabeth Gemski
Savino called the meeting to order at 12:09 p.m.
Motion to approve the minutes for the December meeting by M. Pearlman, second from Powell. Vote: unanimous
Savino gave a brief president’s report.
Lombardi gave the treasurer’s report, including an update on which organizations have paid their dues so far this year.
Jacklin and Gemski led the legislative update, which included a discussion about legislation that is or potentially could be connected to the FOI Act. Many of the bills are in the concept phase, but the council discussed their thoughts on some of the bills.
Gemski, Jacklin, and Janowski also gave updates about meetings with leaders of the Government Administration and Elections Committee, as well as others scheduled to occur.
Savino informed the council of a project he organized, in collaboration with other media outlets, to test municipalities’ compliance with FOI requests.
