The meeting was via Zoom.
Present: Matt Kauffman, Mitch Pearlman, Kim Phillips, Liz Gemski, Michele Jacklin, Gary Gold, Chris Powell, Jeff Daniels, Tom Scheffey, Colleen Murphy, Paula Pearlman, Mary Connolly. President Michael Savino could not attend and Kauffman chaired the meeting.
The minutes of the March 17, 2021 meeting were accepted.
Treasurer’s report: Phillips reported a balance of $15,478.70. Requests for payment of dues went out in March.
Legislative report: Gemski said the legislative process continues to move slowly due to the pandemic. The House and Senate are not in session on the same day to avoid crowding. She will be working to set up meetings with leadership on FOI-related issues. There was discussion of the “learning gap” when it comes to the governor’s office on FOI and how to address it.
Annual meeting: As discussed in previous meetings, scheduling our traditional annual awards luncheon in June could be a financial and attendance problem due to the pandemic. The Pond House continues to hold the deposit we made last year for the 2020 luncheon before the virus spread and the event was canceled. We must notify the Pond House by May 16 if we will not schedule the event in June.
Looking ahead: The next CCFOI meeting will be May 19 at noon, via Zoom.
