The meeting was by Zoom.

Present: Mike Savino, Mitch Pearlman, Mary Connolly, Michele Jacklin, Liz Gemski, George Lombardi, Chris Powell, Jeff Daniels, Matt Kauffman, Paula Pearlman, Colleen Murphy, Gary Gold.

The minutes of the April 22, 2020 meeting were accepted.

Treasurer’s report: Lombardi reported a balance of $3,138.

Annual meeting: As discussed in April, the planned June 17 annual meeting and awards luncheon was canceled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The deposit made to reserve the date and space at Pond House Café in West Hartford will remain a credit for future use.

President’s report: Savino discussed the collapse of the Dalio public/private partnership on schools, due to internal disputes. CCFOI had been critical that the partnership was given exemptions from the FOI Act. Governor Lamont created a worrisome COVID-19 advisory group to reopen Connecticut. Lamont says it also should not be subject to the FOI Act.

Legislative report: There was discussion of the legislative schedule. Gemski said next year’s budget debate will be difficult because of the economic impact of the pandemic.

Nomination of officers: Mike Savino, president; Matt Kauffman, vice president; George Lombardi, treasurer; Mary Connolly, secretary; Michele Jacklin and Jeff Daniels, legislative co-chairs.

Looking ahead: The annual meeting luncheon has been canceled but there will be a Zoom meeting and election of officers on June 17 at noon.
