Minutes, April 2, 2025
This legislative update meeting was via Zoom.
Present: Michele Jacklin, Tom Scheffey, Jacqueline Smith, Mary Connolly, Jeff Daniels, Mitch Pearlman, Chris Powell, Katherine Revello, Liz Gemski.
Legislative report: The committee process is moving ahead. Gemski said the list of FOI-related bills is “down to a handful” that are of concern. That list includes FOI exemptions for public employee addresses, school superintendent participation in school board executive sessions, hate crimes and access to police body cam video.
Each Friday, Gemski’s office emails to all board members a legislative tracking report on bills of interest to CCFOI.
Gemski said a special legislative session will be required to deal with state budget issues expected to be created by budget decisions in Washington.
Looking ahead: The next monthly meeting will be April 16 at 9 a.m. via Zoom.
