On this Giving Tuesday, we need your help to continue CCFOI’s work defending the Freedom of Information Act and protecting a fundamental tenet of democracy: the public’s and news media’s right to open government.
The Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information (CCFOI) is a nonprofit organization that works to enhance the public’s right to know and fend off unrelenting attempts to erode the Freedom of Information Act and impede the news media and public’s ability to uncover wrongdoing as well as report on the activities of state and local government.
Working closely with the state Freedom of Information Commission, CCFOI plays a crucial and often lonely role in the debate over preserving and protecting government transparency. Learn more about CCFOI’s advocacy on your behalf.
Rest assured, the opponents of open government will again be front and center in the legislative session beginning in January as they try to double down on secrecy. As it has in the past, CCFOI will work tirelessly in seeking to repel harmful bills and gain passage of vitally important ones.
In today’s legislative environment, the services of a professional lobbyist are essential. In addition to the many hours of volunteer work by its members, CCFOI also employs a lobbyist, whose fee must be paid. Thus your financial support is essential in helping CCFOI ensure that a light can continue to be shined on the activities of state and local government, their employees and officeholders.
