The Town Council will have to host a Freedom of information Act training session after a ruling from the state Freedom of Information Commission found that the town should not have gone into executive session to discuss possible action on three properties.
FOI commissioners voted 5-0 Thursday to adopt a hearing officer’s final decision saying the Town Council should not have discussed three items during the executive session of a Jan. 12 meeting.
Mark Dumas, the Republican candidate for the 2nd District seat on the Town Council, filed complaints about the council. Dumas took issue with the town’s executive session on Jan. 12 to discuss the proposed lease of property at 576-600 East Broadway, which is part of the EPA Superfund site in town, the sale of a lot on Broadbridge Avenue and a proposed portable ice skating rink at Longbrook Park.
