Expert Testimony for the Task Force on Victim Privacy and the Public’s Right to Know

The biggest threat to freedom of information in Connecticut resides at the moment on the Task Force on Victim Privacy and the Public’s Right to Know. The task force is supposed to advise the legislature by 12/31/13 on it’s hastily passed legislation closing crime scene photos and some 911 tapes to the public; not just on Newtown, but for every homicide in the state forevermore.

The task force Web page provides the expert testimony of people favoring FOI. These include: John Dankosky of WNPR; Claude Albert of CCFOI; Colleen Marren of the CT Broadcasters Association; Chris VanDeHoef of the CT Daily Newspaper Association; Mitch Pearlman; David McGuire of ACLU; and David Cuillier, national president of SPJ.
